Valerie Sonnenthal

I grew up in New York City, played, roller skated, ice skated, went sledding, boating and bike riding in Central Park, climbed trees and loved jungle gyms. One of my favorite challenges was a bongo board at my friend Tamara's house. I did sit still, but not for long. I have studied and tried so many sports and practices throughout my life. Teaching is a way for me to share tools that allow us to have a different relationship with our bodies so we can promote healing, stay out of pain, balance our nervous system and enjoy our body. I am or have been certified/authorized as a Sound Practitioner through the NYC's Open Center Sound Music Institute; a Nutritious Movement Restorative Exercise Specialist; a level 2 MELT Method instructor, Gyrotonic/Gyrokinesis® instructor, a Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra® teacher, Reiki Level 2 and a Yamuna Foot Practitioner. I also study Spiritual Health through Sound with Pat Moffit Cook of the Open Ear Center in Santa, Fe, New Mexico. I offer workshops and special classes, Restorative Sound Baths for the public, at Windemere Nursing and Rehab Center, and Camp Jabberwocky besides Sound events, ceremonies and individual treatment.

I am a certified 400-hour KYT Kaiut Yoga® instructor and will always continue my studies of the Yoga of Biomechanics with creator Francisco Kaiut. I have studied with other great teachers including Eric Franklin creator of The Franklin Method; Liz Koch, author of The Psoas Book; Katy Bowman, creator of Nutritious Movement; Tami Lynn Kent in Holistic Pelvic Care; monochord with Martina Glaser-Boehme of Feeltone, tuning forks with John Beaulieu; singing bowls and many others including  Joule L'Adara, Ysaye Barnwell, Sylvia Nakkach,  Mitch Nur, Stephanie Rooker. I always look forward to sharing what I have learned and am continuing to learn with others to improve their daily well being. I welcome the opportunity to help people find a better balance in their own bodies while learning to live without pain, through modalities/practices you can do for yourself.
